In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

In the rush of modern life where we are constantly assaulted with information while simultaneously being deprived of differing perspectives, we often find ourselves in an echo chamber limited to one narrative. In our rush to generalize, we have ceased to give each other space to be more than what meets the eye, and by doing so we’ve missed out on true connection. We as a team recognize the great detriment that this is to our society and are incredibly passionate about providing a safe and inclusive platform, free of all judgment for people to boldly give voice to their thoughts. We hope to rediscover the common threads that weave us all together in the rich and varied tapestry of life as we celebrate our differences and take comfort in our similarities.

WHAT IS TED^x

TEDx started off as grassroots initiative, which was created in the spirit of TED’s overall mission to research and discover “ideas worth spreading.” TEDx aims at bringing spirit of TED to local communities around the globe through its events. TEDx events are organized by passionate individuals who seek to uncover new ideas and wish to share the latest research in their local areas that spark conversations in their communities. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.

TEDx events include live speakers and recorded TED Talks, and are organized independently under a free license granted by TED. These events are not controlled by TED, but the event organisers agree to abide by their format, and are offered guidelines for curation, speaker coaching, event organizing and more. They learn from us and from each other. More than 3000 events are now held annually.
